Blog 75 - Letter

Dear English 110 Students,
I hope you are ready for a quarter filled with Sci-fi TV shows, blogging, and a little bit of formal writing.  When I first started the class, blogging every single day intimidated me a bit.  After a while though, I became used to it.  250 words may seem like a lot at first, but after you get the hang of it, you can do a blog in less than 5 minutes.  As long as you keep up with your blogs every day, you should be able to get a decent grade in the class.  Along with blogging every day, be sure to work on your comments! If I were to go back now and take this class differently, I would have finished my comments a long tome ago.  Most people thought they would be fine putting them off until the last minute, but it’s not very fun when you have a week left and 50 comments to go.  This class also has made me much more comfortable with my free writing.  It is much easier to write freely, and blogging every day actually did help that.  Another thing is watching the science fiction shows.  For anyone that is into normal high school drama and a little bit of violence, I would suggest watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  After a few episodes, I ended up enjoying watching the shows when I had to.  The themes of each episode were also pretty easy to figure out, which helped in the end with my ARP.  Good luck this quarter! Don’t fall behind and you will be sure to get a good grade!

Blog 74-Science Fiction

So before English class this year, I was always very hesitant about watching science fiction shows.  My dad loved watching crazy shows on the Sci-Fi channel, but I was never a huge fan of it.  I think now though, when my dad is watching his weird shows, I will probably be able to sit through it with him.  I watched Buffy for most of my science fiction shows and I actually grew to like it more than I had anticipated.  I would get a little freaked out at times, since I hate scary things, but I ended up enjoying the episodes.  They had all of the drama that I enjoy in shows I watch today.  There were high school dilemmas, romance, and a lot of action.  I never thought slaying vampires was anything that I would ever be interested in, but it kept me interested in the show and wondering what would happen next.  When we were first assigned to watch episodes of science fiction shows, I completely dreaded it.  I thought it was going to be such a stupid assignment and I wouldn’t even like the show.  Finding a show I liked, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, really helped me make it through the first half of the quarter.  If I would have been forced to watch a show I hated, I’m sure half of my blogs would have never been completed.  So in the end, it wasn’t so horrible watching science fiction shows, and I think they deserve more credit than they actually receive.

Blog 73

Oh shoot. I totally forgot to blog last night. So I guess I will do it now really quick.  I hate when I forget. Yesterday I woke up around 11 and got ready and went and ate breakfast with my roommate.  Then my parents came and picked us up since they were in Columbus.   My sister had another cheer competition at the convention center, so my parents decided they would take us to dinner since they were so close to us.  First they took us to Bar Louie after they dropped my sister off.  We only had some appetizers because we didn’t want to be full when my sister was done because we wanted to eat with her.  So we ate spinach dip, boneless wings, and pot stickers.  They were all delicious.  Then we walked next door to the North Market and just walked around in there for a little bit.  None of us were hungry so we didn’t buy anything, but it’s cool looking at all of the different foods they have.  After that we walked to the convention center to watch my sister perform.  She was supposed to go at 4:00 but it ended up being about 4:45 when she actually performed.  So we had to sit in that loud gym listening to every other team and all the parents screaming for an extra 45 minutes.  It’s much different when you are the one watching compared to the performer.  I used to cheer at competitions like that all the time but I never realized how boring they are for your parents.  I mean your parents sit there for 2 hours waiting for your 3-minute routine, and then it’s all over. But now it’s time to study for finals! I’ll blog later bloggy!

Blog 72

Yo Bloggy. Almost done with the blogs! I can’t wait.  Today my roommate and I went and looked at another apartment and we really liked it! I’m excited we found one we liked that’s available.  So I am calling now to schedule an appointment to lease the place.  I can’t wait to have that all over with.  Major studying will be going on this weekend in my room.  I have my psych exam on Monday at 7:30 am. I am not looking forward to waking up that early.  Oh well, after Monday I don’t have another exam until Thursday, so I will have plenty of time to study for my Math final.  I’m not sure if I should go out tonight.  I didn’t plan on going out… but I know I wont accomplish any studying tonight so why just waste a night sitting in my dorm?  So many decisions! I probably will end up going out, because that’s what I usually do.  I’m hungry right now.  I wanted to go to the union with my roommate, but she is going to some Jewish dinner, so I guess I’ll have to go with some other people on my floor.  How sad.  Alright, it’s time for me to go look for people to eat dinner with.  I’m starving. Blog 72 done! Can’t wait until I’m finally at 75!  Have a great night everyone!
Love Emily

Blog 71

Happy Thursday Bloggy.  It’s almost the weekend! Even though I’m staying in this weekend to study, weekends are still the best.  So today in class we watched Caprica.  I was so incredibly confused.  First off, why were the girl and the boy leaving Caprica in the first place?  I understood she didn’t get along with her parents very well, but other than that I can’t think of any other good reasons.  Also, did she know her friend was going to set off the bomb in the subway? Or was she thrown off guard when he opened his coat and showed everyone the bomb? It really makes my stomach turn to think that 2 kids would ever think of doing something like that.  I’m sure when this show came out there was much controversy over that action and the 9/11 bombing.  Another thing I didn’t understand was the whole virtual reality game going on.  If you die in there, do you die in real life?  And why were there humans sacrificing other humans for fun?  The whole idea of that place really baffled me.  I really feel bad for the mother of the girl.  She had no idea that was coming, and I bet she feels a great deal of regret after hitting her daughter the night before.  If hitting someone was the last thing I ever did to them before they died, I would be pretty upset with myself too.  Poor woman.  Alright that’s it about Caprica for tonight.   Peace out Bloggy.

Blog 70

Hey again Bloggy.  Only 5 more blogs and then you are done with me.  How sad? You’ll never get to experience my one-sided stories and opinions ever again.  I’m really not too sad about it though.  It will be nice to have this over with.  You’re a bit of an inconvenience Bloggy.  Today was just another ordinary day.  Although, I think my roommate and I found 2 other girls to live with next year! Yay! But I’m sure the townhouse we wanted is taken by now.  It was such a perfect location.  It seems like now we’re going to have to choose between 12th Ave. or Norwich.  Tough decision.  I really hope we decide on a place soon though! I’d love to have this unnecessary stress over with!  I didn’t finish my Webwork today.  I only had 2.25 left, but I’m still a little upset I didn’t get the whole thing done.  I did finish my paper homework though.  I’m not sure if I’m going to go to my math class tomorrow.  I have another meeting with a realtor tomorrow at 12, and my class starts at 10:30, so it’s somewhat pointless to go for like 15 minutes.  I guess I will decide last minute tomorrow morning.  I can always turn in my paper homework to the math building, so it shouldn’t be a problem if I don’t go to class.  Well that is about all I have to say for my blog tonight.  Last English class tomorrow! Woohoo can’t wait! See you all there :)

Hello Bloggy. I forgot to do this last night so hopefully this counts.  It is currently snowing outside, which I prefer much more than the rain that we had yesterday.  Although walking in the snow sucks, I’d rather walk in it than the rain.  Whenever it is cold outside it makes me so unmotivated to go to class.  I did make it to class this morning.  I figured since it was my last psych class, I needed to go.  Also last night, my roommate and I decided to go to Baker for dinner since we didn’t want to go outside in the rain.  HORRIBLE decision.  I had eaten there once or twice for breakfast, and I figured it wouldn’t be too bad.  It was.  Nothing tasted good, and I ended up just eating cereal.  The only reason I like that place is for the chocolate milk.  But I was very unsatisfied with my dinner last night, and I ended up eating some Ramen in my room later.  Ramen is always good, so I always keep it for back up if my meal sucks.  I now am sitting in my psych class watching everyone present their projects.  I presented mine yesterday so I really have nothing to do until after our break when he makes us watch videos.  It was terrifying speaking in front of the class.  But now I should probably get back to class, have a great day Bloggy, I will converse with you later.
